Germany / Norway: Norwegian Offshore Wind and the German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to create an offshore wind working group aimed at deepening cooperation between Germany and Norway.

The group builds on the bilateral offshore wind initiative launched by the Chamber in 2022 and will serve as a platform for discussions among industry stakeholders, policymakers, and market participants from both countries. Participants will include businesses from offshore and subsea supply sectors.

Its objectives include identifying business opportunities, addressing regulatory and market challenges, and improving integration across the supply chains linking Germany and Norway.

Michael Kern, CEO of the German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, said: “By joining forces, we can involve more actors across the value chain and uncover new opportunities for collaboration. This partnership will strengthen knowledge exchange between industry and policymakers, and help build a more integrated, resilient and competitive offshore wind ecosystem.”

The announcement follows the recent North Sea Summit in Hamburg, where energy ministers from ten nations committed to reaching 300 GW of offshore wind capacity in the North Sea by 2050, with one-third expected to come from international projects.

The working group is seen as a step towards accelerating joint offshore wind projects, enhancing sustainability, and supporting the global transition to clean energy.
