India, Mumbai: At a recent media roundtable in Mumbai, Raghavendra Mirji, Executive Vice President & Business Head of Energy Solutions at Godrej Enterprises Group, highlighted Godrej Enterprises Group’s focus on substations, positioning itself as a key EPC player.

In just 4-5 years, Godrej has commissioned around 80 AIS and GIS substation projects. Notable achievements include Mumbai’s first 400 kV GIS substation and Bihar’s first 400 kV GIS for Bihar Grid Company Ltd. The Mumbai project featured a space-saving vertical design, reducing footprint by 40 % and using steel decks for faster completion.

Godrej is now qualified for 765 kV substations and is building 765 kV AIS and GIS projects in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, primarily for renewable energy evacuation. Mirji emphasized the company’s role in supporting both private and government utilities in green energy transmission.

While the company constructs transmission lines, it focuses on substation projects, where design and engineering innovation play a bigger role. It has also completed 300 km of transmission lines and an EHV underground cabling project across Mumbai’s Mithi River.

Godrej’s Energy Solutions division spans four verticals: power infrastructure EPC, mechanical, electrical and public health services, bus duct manufacturing, and energy efficiency solutions. With increasing urbanization, Mirji sees GIS substations as the future, citing rising indigenization of GIS equipment and growing demand for compact, high-efficiency designs.

Addressing a media roundtable in Mumbai recently, Raghavendra Mirji, Executive Vice President & Business Head – Energy Solutions of Godrej Enterprises Group, said that the company will focus predominantly on substations and is positioning itself as a top substation EPC player.
