Ireland, County Kildare: A planning application has been approved by Kildare County Council for an ESB electrical substation and underground cables on the Kildare/Carlow border. The location is at the townlands of Ballyvergal, Pollertown Little, County Carlow and Knocknagee, County Kildare.

The substation compound will have an area of 2850 square metres with a 2.6 meters high palisade fence around the entire perimeter. The various elements in the compound include transformers, a 10 m telecommunications pole and an internal access road of 40 meters in length and 5 meters wide.

Lighting, drainage, landscaping works are also included. A new stone wall is also planned, together with fencing and gates at the existing junction of the temporary road with the public road. A total of 1.3 km of double-circuit underground cables along the R448 road are planned.
