USA, Pennsylvania, Harrisburg: Governor Josh Shapiro has announced that Hitachi Energy will invest $70 M to expand and upgrade its three facilities in Westmoreland County, creating over 100 new jobs and retaining nearly 300 existing positions statewide.
The Commonwealth is supporting the project with more than $329,000 in state funding, including a $184,000 Pennsylvania First grant and a $145,000 WEDnetPA grant for employee training.
The company’s Mount Pleasant facility will be transformed into a high-tech manufacturing hub for high-voltage products such as switchgears and circuit breakers. Renovations will include production line upgrades and the construction of a modern training center.
“When a global leader like Hitachi Energy chooses Pennsylvania, it shows we are serious about business,” said Governor Shapiro. “We are building a national reputation for energy and manufacturing leadership.”
The investment supports the state’s 10-year Economic Development Strategy, with energy as one of its five key sectors.
“This expansion highlights Pennsylvania’s manufacturing strengths,” said Jason Rigone, Executive Director of the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation.
The project was coordinated by the Governor’s BusinessPA team, which supports business growth across the Commonwealth.
Since taking office, Governor Shapiro’s administration has helped secure over $3.7 B in private investment and created more than 5,000 jobs.
The proposed 2025–26 budget includes new funding for innovation, workforce training, housing, and support for distressed communities.
