Guyana: Minister of Public Works, Deodat Indar, conducted a site visit yesterday to inspect the ongoing construction of the Goedverwagting substation, an essential part of the gas-to-energy project. The new substation will play a key role in transmitting power to consumers from the gas facility.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the substation’s switchyard will initially receive 230 kV from the gas-to-energy plant. This power will be stepped down to 69 kV using two 375 MVA transformers. The voltage will then be reduced further to 13.8 kV with the help of 60 MVA transformers, which will distribute the energy to consumers through 13.8 kV switchgear.

The project already features the installation of two 375 MVA transformers, each weighing 241 t, and two 60 MVA transformers, each weighing 59 t. Siemens and ABB technology will power the substation.

In addition to the Goedverwagting substation, two more substations are under construction at Wales, W.B.D. During his visit, Indar was accompanied by senior officials from Kalpataru India, including Country Manager PK Mohanty and several other key team members.
