India, Mumbai: Mumbai-headquartered KEC International has secured new transmission and distribution (T&D) contracts in India worth $133 M (₹1,133 crore), expanding its role in the country’s evolving energy infrastructure.

The company received a major public sector order from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for an 800 kV HVDC transmission line and a 765 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS). These projects aim to improve interregional power transfer and support renewable energy integration.

KEC also won a private sector contract for a 400 kV quad transmission line, reflecting growing private investment in reliable, high-capacity grid infrastructure. Together, these contracts span both public and private sectors and highlight the increasing demand for efficient and future-ready energy systems.

The new projects align with India’s ambition to add 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030. GIS substations offer compact, safer solutions suitable for dense urban areas. KEC’s work is expected to support urban load centres and help address renewable evacuation bottlenecks.

A flagship of the RPG Group, KEC operates in over 110 countries and participates in key national infrastructure programmes. The company says its T&D operations remain a core growth area amid rising electricity demand and clean energy targets.
