Lagercrantz acquires Michael Smith Switchgear
Lagercrantz Group expands Electrify division by acquiring Michael Smith Switchgear, a leading UK low-voltage switchgear provider.
UK, England, Leicester: Lagercrantz Group AB has acquired 100% of the shares in Michael Smith Switchgear Limited, a Leicester-based supplier of bespoke low-voltage switchgear and electrical distribution solutions.
MS Switchgear designs and manufactures customised switchgear assemblies for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure clients across the UK, including data centres. The company is known for its technical expertise, quality products, and strong customer relationships, generating annual revenues of around GBP 8 million with healthy profitability.
Daniel Andersson, Head of the Electrify division at Lagercrantz, said: “The acquisition of MS Switchgear is an excellent addition to the Electrify division. MS Switchgear operates in an attractive niche with strong fundamentals, and we look forward to supporting a very competent team in the next phase of their development.”

MS Switchgear will officially join the Electrify division in April 2026. The acquisition is expected to contribute positively, though modestly, to Lagercrantz Group’s annual earnings per share.
