The Millennium Challenge Account Nepal (MCA Nepal) has signed a second agreement with a consortium of companies to build a 400 kV substation in Nepal. The substation will play a crucial role in strengthening the country’s power transmission infrastructure and improving the reliability of electricity supply.
The agreement was signed between MCA Nepal and a consortium comprising of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Hyundai Engineering. The consortium will design, build, and commission the 400 kV substation, which will be located in the Butwal area of Nepal. The substation will also help to improve the efficiency of power transmission and reduce energy losses.
The project is part of the Nepal-India Electricity Transmission and Trade Project, which aims to improve the power transmission infrastructure between Nepal and India. The project is being funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a US-based agency that provides grants to developing countries to support economic development.
The construction of the substation is expected to take around 24 months to complete. Once operational, the substation will help to improve the reliability of electricity supply in Nepal and support the country’s economic growth.
The signing of the agreement marks a significant milestone in the development of Nepal’s power transmission infrastructure. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy and will help to improve the lives of millions of people.
