Morocco: Morocco aims to invest almost 27 billion Moroccan dirhams ($2.7 billion) in the expansion of its electricity network. The country also wants to boost the share of renewable energy.

Zawya reports that Tarik Hammane, Director General of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water, said that the country has made progress in plans to rely more on renewable energy, which accounted for 44.3% of the total energy mix at the end of 2024, adding that renewable energy production in Morocco stands at roughly 5400 MW, including nearly 2400 MW from wind power, 2100 MW from hydro power and 900 MW from solar power.

The plan is to invest the funds in the next five years. The projects cover conventional electricity, renewable energy and green hydrogen.
