USA, New York, Albany: Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the launch of a $12 M funding opportunity aimed at accelerating cutting-edge technologies that enhance New York’s electric grid. The initiative supports advancements that improve energy efficiency, bolster grid reliability, and streamline the integration of renewable energy like wind and solar.
“Modernizing our grid is a key part of New York’s clean energy future,” said Governor Hochul. “This investment will unlock innovative solutions that ensure New Yorkers continue to benefit from reliable, resilient, and renewable power.”
Administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), the Grid Enhancing Technologies (GETs) program is now seeking proposals for product development, demonstration projects, and research studies. Funding will help advance grid performance and readiness for commercial-scale deployment.
Eligible applicants may receive up to $3 M for development or demonstration projects and $400,000 for qualifying studies. Proposals must present a solid action plan addressing market risks and meeting cost-share requirements, 50 % for development or demonstrations and 25 % for research studies.
NYSERDA President and CEO Doreen M. Harris emphasized, “To meet growing energy demands sustainably, we must innovate how electricity is delivered. This program supports partnerships that will shape a smarter, more responsive electric grid.”
This initiative reflects New York’s continued leadership in clean energy, driving transformation through innovation and collaboration.
