USA, Massachusetts: Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD), a municipal electric utility in Massachusetts, is partnering with Tantalus Systems to modernize its distribution grid using the Tantalus Grid Modernization Platform (TGMP). This initiative will transform RMLD’s infrastructure into a multi-directional, data-driven grid.
By leveraging TGMP’s advanced smart grid architecture, RMLD will integrate connected devices, communication networks, and analytics to improve grid visibility, command, and control. This seamless IT-OT integration will enhance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
“We are excited to collaborate with Tantalus to accelerate grid modernization,” said RMLD General Manager Gregory Phipps. “Harnessing the power of data will help us enhance customer satisfaction and adapt to a more dynamic energy market.”
The TRUSync Grid Data Management System will automate data integration, enabling proactive outage management, improved power quality, and optimized resource allocation. Additionally, the TRUSense Cellular Gateway will facilitate the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) and electric vehicles (EVs), aligning with RMLD’s clean energy goals.
“Our solutions are designed to help utilities enhance efficiency, cut emissions, and improve service,” said Peter Londa, President & CEO of Tantalus.
Serving over 70,000 residents, RMLD is the largest municipal light department in Massachusetts by electricity load. This partnership marks a major step toward a more resilient and sustainable energy future.
