India, Goa: Siemens Ltd. is significantly scaling up its manufacturing of advanced switchgear technologies in Goa with a $38 M (₹330 crore) investment. The expansion includes production of state-of-the-art gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and clean air GIS, also known as Blue GIS, which are vital components for modern electrical infrastructure.

The Goa factory will also see enhanced research and development capabilities, with a focus on designing high-end electronic products for both domestic and global markets.

“This is hardcore electronics design and innovation, and it will happen right here in Goa,” said Mahendra Wani, General Manager and Location Head at Siemens Goa. “This expansion marks our largest investment in the state.”

Siemens already operates five manufacturing units in Goa, and the new investment further reinforces its long-term commitment to the region.

Alongside expanding capacity, Siemens is also aiming to deepen its engagement with local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The company is encouraging MSMEs to integrate into its supply chain as demand for smart electrical and automation products continues to rise.

“We are committed to building a strong local supply ecosystem and enabling MSMEs to become a meaningful part of our operations,” Wani added.

The expansion is part of Siemens’ broader effort to strengthen domestic manufacturing while supporting the energy sector’s transition to smart and sustainable solutions.
