UK: Heerema Marine Contractors’ semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV) Sleipnir is set to sail to the 1.4 GW Sofia offshore wind farm site in the UK soon, in order to install the project’s HVDC offshore converter platform. According to a recent Notice to Mariners from the project, the work will start around 10 August, with the installation of the pin piles and the jacket foundation, as well as the converter platform topside.

The offshore platform, the jacket, and the pin piles are on their way to the project site. The offshore project is being built by RWE on Dogger Bank in the central North Sea, 195 kilometres from the northeast coast of the UK. Monopile installation started in May, and once completed, the wind farm will consist of 100 SG 14-222 DD wind turbines, of which 44 will be equipped with recyclable blades. The project is set to be commissioned in 2026.
