Vietnam: The offshore substation topside for the Taipower Offshore Wind Project Phase II (TPC Phase II) has officially begun its journey from Vietnam to Taiwan. Weighing 3,900 t, the structure includes all key components such as electrical systems, transformers, control units, and operational utilities.
A formal handover was held on 26 June at the PetroVietnam Shipyard in Vung Tau, celebrating the milestone as the company’s first offshore substation delivery. The event marked a significant achievement in the regional offshore wind supply chain.
TPC Phase II is a 300 MW offshore wind project and one of the eleven developments selected by the Taiwanese government in April 2018 for commissioning by 2025. The project reflects Taiwan’s commitment to expanding its offshore wind capacity and transitioning to cleaner energy sources.
Foxwell Energy, an affiliate of Shinfox, secured the development contract from Taipower to build and operate the wind farm.
Site construction is progressing steadily. Jacket foundation installation began in March 2025, and submarine cable laying is being handled by LS Marine Solutions under an agreement signed earlier this year.
The substation will play a vital role in managing and transmitting the wind farm’s power output to Taiwan’s grid, enabling efficient integration of renewable energy.
With the topside now en route, installation at sea will be the next major phase in this landmark energy project.
