Tanzania: Dar es Salaam-based Raddy Energy Solution Limited has signed an agreement to buy four gas turbines from Sweden’s Siemens Energy in a deal valued at $320 M. The project is expected to add 177 MW to Tanzania’s national power grid, helping to improve electricity reliability across the country.

The high-capacity turbines will be shipped to Tanzania and are scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2027. CRDB Bank is supporting the transaction as the local financial partner, working together with several Swedish government-backed financial institutions.

Raddy Energy, a sister company to Raddy Fiber Manufacturing in Mkuranga, Coast Region, will complete the procurement in collaboration with Sweden’s Export Credit Agency (EKN), Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK), Swedfund, Sida and Business Sweden. The International Council of Swedish Industry (NIR) is also part of the advisory team for the acquisition.

This turbine purchase marks the first stage of Raddy Energy’s long-term growth plans. The company aims to reach a total generation capacity of 1,000 MW by 2030, supporting Tanzania’s rising electricity demand and creating potential for power exports to neighbouring countries.

As part of the process, senior Raddy Energy executives visited Sweden from December 10 to 13, 2025, with support from the Tanzanian Embassy in Stockholm. The delegation held meetings with Siemens Energy and Swedish financial institutions, visited Siemens’ headquarters and toured the turbine manufacturing facility in Finspång.
