India, Andhra Pradesh: A new transmission system for evacuation of renewable energy from Kurnool REZ in Andhra Pradesh is in the making. The interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme is called Transmission system for integration of Kurnool-IV REZ – Phase-I (for 4.5 GW) and will be implemented under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route with REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL). The scheme will cost roughly INR 5500 crore and is set for completion in 24 months from the SPV transfer date.
The main component will be the Kurnool-IV Pooling Station with 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV and 4×500 MVA, 400/220 kV capacity. The PGCIL’s existing 765/400kV Chilakaluripet substation will be augmented by 1×500 MVA. The Kurnool-IV PS will be connected to substations like Kurnool-III PS, Bidar and Chilakaluripet, through a network of transmission lines aggregating about 1000 ckm.
