Finland: Enersense has been awarded the lead contract for Fingrid’s Herva 400/110 kV substation project in Ii, Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. The substation will play a key role in integrating new wind energy capacity into the national electricity network.
Located in a region experiencing rapid renewable energy development, the Herva substation is part of a broader infrastructure plan aimed at improving electricity transmission from northern to southern Finland. Enersense is also building the Herva – Nuojuankangas transmission line, which will link directly to the new facility.
This project continues Enersense’s recent activity in Northern Ostrobothnia. The company completed the Simojoki substation earlier this year and is currently working on expansions at Fingrid’s Vaala and Muhos substations.
Anssi Niiles, Enersense’s Director of Substation Operations, emphasized the importance of continuity in infrastructure development and highlighted the company’s ongoing collaboration with transmission system operator Fingrid. He also noted the project’s significance in supporting the clean energy transition and strengthening national grid reliability.
The Herva substation contract is valued at approximately €15 M and will be added to Enersense’s Power segment order book in Q2 2025. Construction is expected to keep the company engaged through late 2027.
