Vietnam: Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has commenced the construction of the section of the Lao Cai – Vinh Yen 500 kV transmission line project passing through Phu Tho province.
This section of the transmission line is 41.06 km long, with 94 transmission pole positions, spanning the districts of Doan Hung, Thanh Ba, and Phu Ninh, said EVN in a statement.
The project is a double-circuit transmission line with a total length of 229.5 km, comprising 468 transmission pole positions. The project passes through four provinces: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, and Vinh Phuc, starting from the Lao Cai 500 kV substation and ending at the Vinh Yen 500kV substation.
Once operational, the transmission line will transfer power from hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighboring provinces to the national grid.
The project is expected to enhance interconnectivity between regional power systems, ensure the safe and stable operation of the national grid, minimise transmission losses, and improve the efficiency of EVN’s power generation and business activities.
