UK, England, Essex: Pickering Electronics, a company that specializes in high-performance reed relays, has introduced a new 20 kV addition to its high-voltage Series 63 range. This latest addition sets a new industry standard by offering 20 kV stand-off across the switch contacts – a first-of-its-kind capability that no other relay manufacturer currently offers. The new 20 kV high voltage reed relay was unveiled at electronica China 2025, taking place in Shanghai, China from April 15 to 17, 2025.
Engineered for rigorous high-voltage tasks, the new relay delivers 20 kV stand-off and 12.5 kV switching, handling up to 50 W. Tungsten-plated contacts provide long service life with up to 100 million operations in cold switching. Designed for applications such as hi-pot testing, EV charge point validation, solar power systems, medical devices, and high-voltage instrumentation, the relay is available with short lead times, 3 – 4 weeks for small orders, 5 – 6 weeks for larger quantities.
“This 20 kV relay is a leap forward in performance and reliability,” said Robert King, Reed Relay Product Manager at Pickering. “It is tailored for customers needing compact, durable, high-voltage switching solutions.”
Available in Form A and Form B configurations (with Form C possible via combination), it features a compact PCB-mount design, push-on high-voltage connectors, and optional EMC shielding. Pickering’s advanced design, featuring SoftCenter™ construction, mu-metal magnetic shielding, and rigorous quality control, ensures durability, high density packing, and consistent, long-term reliability.
