Hitachi Energy to Upgrade TenneT’s Substation
Hitachi Energy is set to revamp TenneT’s substation in Maasbracht, Netherlands with their 380kV EconiQ™ gas-insulated lines (GIL). This cutting-edge technology will help TenneT maintain a reliable electricity supply and significantly cut carbon emissions by removing sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas.
Project Highlights
- Eco-Friendly: EconiQ™ GIL eliminates SF6, reducing the carbon footprint equivalent to taking 826,000 cars off the road annually.
- Reliable Power: Ensures steady electricity supply for the region.
- Key Connection: Modernizes a critical substation linking the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
- Tech Specs: Over seven kilometers of EconiQ GIL will be installed.
- Environmental Impact: Avoids adding over 70,000 kilograms of SF6 into the network.
- Sustainability Goals: Supports TenneT’s mission for a sustainable, decarbonized energy system.
This project is a great example of how modern engineering can tackle environmental challenges. By using innovative technologies like EconiQ GIL, engineers can create systems that provide reliable power. Sustainability and innovation go hand in hand to build a better future.
