State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company has led the development of China’s first national standard for emergency supplies in electrochemical energy storage stations. This groundbreaking standard, titled “Technical Guidelines for Emergency Supplies for Electrochemical Energy Storage Stations“, has been approved by the Standardization Administration of China and will come into effect on May 1, 2025.
Key points of the new standard:
1. Addresses a critical safety need in the rapidly growing field of electrochemical energy storage stations.
2. Covers comprehensive management of emergency supplies, including allocation, application, maintenance, storage, and disposal.
3. Provides specific guidance on firefighting supplies for different battery types.
4. Details storage locations for emergency supplies at various station types.
5. Outlines operational procedures for emergency supplies under different duty systems.
The standard development process was remarkably swift:
– Initiated in January 2024
– Completed in July 2024
– Approved for publication in November 2024
This accelerated timeline demonstrates the urgency and importance placed on safety in China’s energy storage sector.
By establishing clear guidelines for emergency preparedness, this new standard aims to enhance safety management and improve the speed and efficiency of emergency responses at electrochemical energy storage stations across China.
