Huadian’s $700 M offshore project approved

Huadian's 500 MW offshore wind power storage project has been approved, with a total investment of $700 M (5.2 B yuan).

China: On March 6, the Yangjiang Municipal Development and Reform Bureau issued a pre-approval announcement on the Huadian Yangjiang Sanshan Island VI Offshore Wind Farm Project. The owner of the project is Huadian (Yangjiang Yangdong) New Energy Co., Ltd. and the total installed capacity of the project is 500 MW.

It is agreed to use 14 MW wind turbines which are connected to the offshore substation of the centralized transmission project through 66 kV power collection submarine cables. The centralized transmission project and energy storage will be separately approved. The project will be equipped with 50 MW/100 MWh of energy storage through leasing.

The project is in the sea area south of Hailing Island, Yangjiang City, 34 km west of the planned Yangjiang Qingzhou site, 12 km east of the planned Yangjiang Fanshi site, and the center of the site is 82 km away from the shore.
