Saudi Arabia: Linxon has successfully energised the Taif East Governorate 380 kV expansion project, marking an important step in strengthening power infrastructure across Saudi Arabia and supporting the nation’s clean energy ambitions.
The project involved the full turnkey expansion of the existing substation in Taif East Governorate. Works included detailed engineering design, the integration of advanced high-voltage gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) technology supplied by Hitachi Energy, installation of line reactors, and comprehensive control and protection systems.
This upgrade strengthens grid reliability, improves operational performance, and increases capacity for future growth. The use of GIS technology provides a compact and cost-efficient solution while preparing the network for greater levels of renewable energy integration.
The energisation of the Taif East Governorate BSP plays a key role in enabling the evacuation of additional green power and contributes directly to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives. It highlights Linxon’s capability in delivering complex substation projects that combine advanced engineering with environmental responsibility, ensuring a resilient and future-ready electricity network.
Hassan Merhi, Managing Director – Linxon AMEA, said: “This successful energisation demonstrates Linxon’s commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that support the Kingdom’s energy transition. We are proud to partner with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) in reinforcing the grid and enabling the integration of renewable energy sources.”
